Gingerbread and the new millenium.

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5841/gingerbread1vc.jpgThere’s nothing I love more than spending some quality time with my family, making a gingerbread house. The christmas season is upon us, and since gingerbread was Jesus’ main snack of choice, in the past we have celebrated his birth by creating a manger out of the tasty treat.

Nowadays the gingerbread house has become such a widespread phenomenon, that people are going all out to have the best house - or better yet, a mansion. In fact, just yesterday I made a full-powered hydroelectric dam out of gingerbread in under 2 and a half hours.

The 9/11 Commemorative Lighter - Features Osama Bin Laden effigy.

I’m not really sure what to say about this one… its an ebay auction for an interesting lighter.

The description for this ebay auction reads:

This is a limited edition Commemorative 9/11 Musical lighter.

On it’s face is an effigy of Osama Bin Laden, and a representation of his attack on the twin towers.

When opened, the twin towers light up, and the lighter plays Beethoven’s “For Elise”.

Lighters are shipped without gas for safety reasons. We recommend using a good-quality butane to ensure a long life for your lighter.

These guys give me the creeps.

http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/serial_killers/weird/charles_albright/Charles-Albright-color150.jpgSo in my boredom-induced curiousity, I was checking out the serial killers section on www.crimelibrary.com and I started to think to myself, what makes a person decide to get up one day and say “I think I’m gonna go kill a hooker and then carefully remove her eyeballs”?? …continue reading These guys give me the creeps.

The Chief Export of Chuck Norris is Pain.

I honestly wish that I could take credit for this beautiful piece of literary art, but alas I cannot. I’m not 100% sure who originally wrote this so if i am infringing on anything let me know. Enjoy…

The DOS Games Archive

Norman Rockwell

When I was 12 my family got our first PC. It was a 33Mhz 486 and it came with a whole bunch of DOS shareware games. The game Galactix was one of them. It was a game I overlooked at first; I was more interested in the side-scrolling shooters like Secret Agent and Crystal Caves. Later though, as I began to beat all of the other games I fell upon this one. It became one of my favorites as I struggled to get a high score that my siblings could never beat.

Years later I looked back on that game and could not remember its exact name making it difficult for me to find a download for it. But now I have found it on the DOS Games Archive. This is a pretty decent site with all sorts of downloads for old DOS games. Its a really good site for all of those vintage PC gaming enthusiasts, because I know there are so many of those out there.

Norman Rockwell Reproductions

Norman RockwellNorman Rockwell is probably one of the most well known American artists. If you don’t know his name, chances are you still know his work.

He painted covers for The Saturday Evening Post for over 40 years and his art has been made eternal through syndication on posters, calendars, mugs, and pretty much every other “gift shop” item you can think of.

I throughly enjoyed browsing through this gallery and I think you might too. Although, if you try to download any of the pictures you’ll be denied. The site has used some fancy JavaScript to prevent people from saving them. If you are as smart as I am though, you can get around it.

Linux on the Xbox 360

A group has already started trying to get Linux running on the Xbox 360. The group, Free60 has already outlined all of the security features on the xbox that they will have to get around to get Linux running.

* The flash is encrypted with a per-box key
* The key is stored inside the CPU
* The boot ROM is stored inside the CPU
* Also inside the CPU is a hypervisor that verifies the running state of the kernel, making sure there is no modification (RAM checksums), else the Xbox360 panics and blows up!
* The CPU contains RAM inside of it to store the checksums
* All interrupt/exception handling is done by the hypervisor
* All code runs in kernel mode
* The emulator for first generation games can be updated via an official Microsoft download burned to CD by the user, though the CDs’ content will be encrypted and signed with public key cryptography. The boot ROM is stored inside the CPU

People still use Kazaa?

Yeah, I’m shocked too. I was not aware people still used the stinking pile of spy/adware infested pooh known as Kazaa. Out of all of the file sharing tools over the past 10 or so years I have got to say Kazaa must have been my most hated. But I havn’t been using it for about 2 years now and didn’t even realize people still put themselves through that.

Apparently there is bad news for users though. Kazaa has been ordered to update their software to block keywords such as “Eminem”, “Madonna”, and “Kylie Minogue”.

Justice Murray Wilcox has ordered the owner of Kazaa, Sharman Networks, to modify the file-sharing software to block a list of search terms — primarily artist and song names — to be supplied by the record companies. Justice Wilcox’s order follows the record companies’ court victory in September against individuals and organisations associated with Kazaa.

The court has ordered Sharman to release a new version of Kazaa by 5 December that includes a non-optional keyword filter, restricting users’ ability to illegally access and swap copyright music.

Looks like the remaining people who still use Kazaa won’t be using it much longer.

Steve don’t eat it!

Steve don't eat it!

Ever wonder what it would taste like to eat a sandwich with the dog treats “beggin strips” on it? How about a shot of breast milk… or better yet, chocolate breast milk. Maybe Silkworm Pupas on a stick is more your type of meal. Anway, one man, lets call him “Steve”, has decided to take it upon himself to taste all sorts of gross things including the above mentioned as well as several more gross “foods” and report back on their flavor.

Not only that but hes quite the comedian about it too.
